Town Challenge Series
The Town Challenge Series is a weekly ski and snowboard gate race series where racers can compete on a team or individually. Races are run on Thursdays from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Downtown. For guests racing individually, not on a team, registration is free and completed at the race shack at the top of Downtown. Racers can run twice, with the best of those two runs being counted as their official time. The official time determines their placement in their division for that week. For each run, racers who are at least 21 years old receive a drink ticket that can be redeemed at that week's results party for a drink from our friends at Montucky Cold Snacks. All racers attending the results party will be entered into a raffle to win prizes.
24/25 Race Schedule
Week 1: January 16th
Week 2: January 23rd
Week 3: January 30th
Week 4: February 6th
Week 5: February 13th
Week 6: February 20th
If races are canceled, make-up dates will be on February 27th and March 6th if needed.
Teams
Racers can compete as a team to earn points throughout the whole race series for a chance to be crowned the Town Challenge Champions. Registration is $40 per team for the entire series. Teams must be registered by January 14, 2025. Teams must meet the following requirements:
- Four racers per team.
- Teams must be co-ed.
- Teams must have at least one snowboarder.
Team points are determined by each team member's weekly placement in their division. The more team members that show up consistently, the better the chance to earn more points.
Example of team points: Team Red River has team members in each division. During Week 1, the Male Skier places 6th and earns 40 points. The Female Skier places 3rd and earns 60 points. The Male Snowboarder places 1st and earns 100 points. The Female Snowboarder places 2nd and earns 80 points. Overall the team would earn 280 points that week.
Once all the points are tallied for the whole series, racers on the top three teams will receive prizes at the final results party. The top team placing first will be crowned the Town Challenge Champions, with the team name and member names forever enshrined on a perpetual trophy in the Lift House.
Divisions
Race divisions are determined by gender and discipline. Divisions are as follows:
- Male Ski
- Female Ski
- Male Snowboard
- Female Snowboard
Rules
- No practice runs are allowed.
- Racers cannot compete on multiple teams or in multiple disciplines to earn points for their team.
- If a racer misses a gate, that run is counted and considered a DNF.
- Drink tickets are not transferable week to week and can only be redeemed during the results party.
- Drink tickets are only redeemable for drinks from Montucky Cold Snacks. Other brand drinks or additional beverages will be your responsibility.
Weekly Results Party
Join us at The Grill at the Lift House for the results party at 5:00pm each race week. All racers attending the results party will be entered into a raffle to win prizes. Enjoy the drinks and brag to your friends about how you smoked them by half a second that week.
