Red River Ski and Summer Area offers adaptive skiing and snowboarding lessons for people with disabilities and special needs. Our mission is to provide personalized custom skiing and snowboarding experiences accessible to all.
Adaptive Lesson Information
- Adaptive Lesson availability is limited, and due to scheduling, we cannot guarantee the ability to accommodate all requests.
- Participants in an Adaptive Lesson must be at least 5 years old.
- Adaptive Lessons include a Lift Ticket and Equipment for the participant.
- Lunch is not provided.
- To allow us to best prepare for accommodations of Adaptive Lessons, please submit the Adaptive Lesson request form at least 14 days before arrival.
Types of Adaptive Lessons
Stand-Up/Standard Equipment
Have concerns about standing up to ski or ride due to strength, balance, or range of motion? No worries! There are many possibilities and strategies to make it a reality. Two Tracking uses two legs, two boots, and two skis, but our instructors can suggest adaptive devices and techniques to keep you comfortable and meet your needs, creating a personalized skiing experience just for you. Two Tracking is suggested for physical and/or cognitive impairments. Adaptive devices and techniques can be utilized to help control skiing speed, direction, and fatigue. Three Tracking is skiing on one leg with two hand-held outriggers to assist with balance and turning. Three Tracking is suggested for amputations, atrophy, discomfort, and/or range of motion concerns. Four Tracking uses two boots, two skis, and two hand-held outriggers. Four Tracking is suggested for prosthetics, atrophy, discomfort, balance, and/or range of motion concerns.
Mono/Bi-Ski
Are you feeling a bit unsure about standing up to ski or snowboard? We offer a sit-skiing option that allows you to enjoy the mountain while relying more on core and/or upper body movements and techniques to control turn shape and speed. Our experienced coaches will help you feel comfortable and confident on the slope. An adaptive sit ski with two skis underneath. It can be used with hand-held outriggers or fixed outriggers. Can be skied independently and/or with an instructor to help control speed and turn shape. Mono/Bi-Ski is suggested for amputations, atrophy, spinal Cord Injury (SCI), and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Adaptive Lesson Pricing
- 6 hour Adaptive Lessons are a full day, split into morning and afternoon with a break for lunch.
- 3 hour Adaptive Lessons are half day with either a morning or afternoon lesson.
- Sales tax is not included in prices for winter products.

Booking Adaptive Lessons
Please complete the Adaptive Lesson request form below. Once completed, a staff member from Ski School will coordinate with you on availability, type of Adaptive Lesson, and any other details. If space is available, payment will be handled by staff from Guest Services. Completing the Adaptive Lesson request form does not guarantee availability.
Arrival & Check In
- Pick up your Lift Ticket(s) inside the Main Chalet from the Sales Counter.
- Notify the Sales Counter that you are here checking in for an Adaptive Lesson.
- Enjoy your lesson and have a blast at Red River Ski & Summer Area!
